Silver Ellipse Drop Earrings
These beautiful, one-of-a-kind Silver Ellipse Drop Earrings are part of my First Exploration collection.
First Exploration was originally inspired by a quotation from a book by Carl Sagan called 'Pale Blue Dot'. The book was named after an image of Earth taken by the Voyager 1 space probe from the edge of our Solar System before it crossed into interstellar space. The image of Earth 'as a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam' threw a spotlight onto our precious planet giving humanity a chance to see itself in a whole new light.
The ellipse shape chosen for these earrings symbolises the recurring nature of the issues we face, both socio-politically and environmentally: the eternal cycle of destruction and regeneration.
Adding to the narrative, I chose the Japanese colours Wakabairo [Young Leaf Green] and Fushiiro [Firewood Brown], with Fushiiro representing the ever-increasing wildfires we are experiencing and Wakabairo our hope for the future.
The earrings are handmade in recycled Sterling silver and eco-resin using techniques such as sawing, filing, forming, soldering and casting resin. Once both colours were cured, the resin was carefully sanded back and polished to a glossy finish.
The earrings measure approximately 42x12mm and come with Sterling silver scrolls.
The earrings will be shipped in a grey recycled-card gift box carefully packaged to ensure that they are not damaged in transit.
Ready to ship in 1-3 business days.
